A memo from the Redeemed Christian Church Of God has clarified the rumors of Pastor E.A Adeboye’s resignation.
Around noon yesterday, a particular news quickly went viral of how Pastor E.A Adeboye (General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God – one of the biggest churches in the world founded by Pa Josiah Akindayomi in the year 1952) retired and handed over to Pastor Obayemi.
It is true that Pastor Obayemi was announced as General Overseer but contrary to the information that has spread, Pastor Adeboye hasn’t resigned. Pastor Obayemi (the newly ordained pastor) would resume office as the General Overseer of RCCG Nigeria while Pastor Adeboye still remains in charge of all international affairs of the church hence still the overall General Overseer.
Before his appointment as General overseer, Pastor Obayemi was a deputy in charge of finance and a member of the governing council of the RCCG.
This structure was put in place in order to comply with the legal provisos guiding the operations of registered Religious organizations in the country.
We pray that God upholds the newly ordained pastor and grants him the grace to take RCCG to the next level of greatness..
