#SexualPerversion: Another Perspective to it

You followed the #SexualPervsions trend and discussion on Twitter yesterday? If not, “Twitter search button” is your friend.

Sex, for sure should be done in the confines of marriage and I’m glad most of #SexualPervisions discussion were issues pertaining to that of the married couple.

When issues like this occur, the Bible is the surest place to find direction. God did not keep quiet on the issue of sex, in fact, he had a lot to say about it. There are over 27 bible verses I could lay my hands on as regards sex in marriage but I’ll place emphasis on three..

1 Corinthians 7:1-9 ESV

Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

Everything is wrong with the idea of discussing sexual intimacy in the open. Why? Intimacy is a feeling and as long as humans are on the face of the earth, at one point or the other, their feelings will in the long run influence their actions. Our definition of Conjugal rights will always vary – even the bible didn’t go further in defining “Conjugal rights”. It only gave us an idea – which is that – The husband has authority over the wife’s body, and can do whatever he pleases, as long as it is her conjugal rights and  likewise, the wife also.

So how do we define “Conjugal rights”? – Notice that the Bible uses “Her Conjugal rights” – meaning that it is her right, she gets to define what she wants, It is her right and likewise for the husband. It is his rights.

Whatever those rights are, we won’t know because we all have different preferences, we all want different things. Sexual intimacy is intimate. Don’t take it out of the matrimonial confines. Leave it in between the two of you.
